Avalanche VR
Every year in Italy, approximately 20 people lose their lives in mountain avalanches.
How can hikers and mountaineers be effectively trained not only to prevent incidents but
also to respond appropriately when they occur?
To address this challenge we collaborated with Fondazione Montagna Sicura, to develop a
Virtual Reality application for mountain safety training in avalanche scenarios.
The project leverages the concept of gamification to provide an immersive training experience.
Users take on the role of a mountaineer tasked with rescuing a companion trapped under the snow, utilizing the tools in the correct order and
manner to save their life.
The software was designed with lightweight and simple graphics to ensure compatibility
across a wide range of devices. Depending on specific project requirements, the graphical
quality can be enhanced to achieve photorealistic detail.
